Transducer Engineer - Audio

Job description

Socode are proud to support a long-standing client in their search for a Transducer Engineer to work in their innovative R&D team and help create the next generation of audio devices and accessories.

What’s in it for me?

You’ll have the opportunity to work in a dynamic research and development environment, contributing to cutting-edge audio technology. This role offers the chance to shape high-performance components and transducers for a wide range of audio products—from loudspeakers to headphones and automotive systems.

What will I be doing?

As a Transducer Engineer, you’ll play a vital role in developing high-performance transducers and audio components:
  • Simulation and Design: Perform dimensioning and finite element simulations (electromagnetic, mechanical, and acoustical) for transducer components and assemblies.
  • Documentation: Develop comprehensive design guidelines, working procedures, and technical reports to ensure alignment and clarity across teams.
  • Team Collaboration: Interface with product development engineers to ensure seamless integration of transducer designs into broader product systems.
  • Continuous Improvement: Maintain and enhance measurement capabilities and facilities while training colleagues on COMSOL templates and apps.
  • Production Support: Provide technical support during the development and mass production stages, including power tests, production test setups, and troubleshooting.
What do I need to be successful?
  • Degree-level education (or equivalent) in acoustics, physics, or electronic engineering.
  • Deep understanding of the physical principles behind electrodynamic transducers.
  • Proficiency with software tools such as COMSOL, Matlab, LTspice, MicroCap, Akabak, and the Klippel R&D system - Solidworks, NX or Catia would be a bonus!
  • Understanding of sound radiation and room acoustics principles.
  • Experience with DFMA, DFMEA, and FMEA methodologies.
