​Barnaby started at SoCode in January 2024.

"I lead the Data and AI team since returning to the business, in my first stint here I build the semiconductor desk as part of the engineering team. I returned at the start of 2024 after a period of working in the renewables space. My primary responsibilities include identifying and engaging top-tier talent in these highly specialised fields and ensuring that we connect the best candidates with leading companies.

In this role, I oversee the entire recruitment lifecycle- from sourcing and vetting candidates to facilitating interviews and managing client relationships. Our goal is to match innovative companies with the skilled professionals who can drive their data and AI initiatives forward. I am also involved in consulting with our clients to understand their specific needs and challenges, advising them on the evolving landscape of AI talent, and ensuring we deliver tailored recruitment solutions. This position requires a deep understanding of both the technical aspects of AI and the unique requirements of recruitment in this rapidly growing sector."

What market do you recruit in and what do you enjoy about it?

"What I find most enjoyable about recruiting in the Data and AI market is the sheer pace of innovation and the broad applicability of these technologies. Data and AI are not confined to a single sector; they are essential across all domains, from healthcare and finance, to retail and manufacturing. this cross-industry relevance makes my work incredibly varied and fascinating. One day, I might be helping a healthcare company find data scientists to improve patient outcomes through predictive analytics, and the next, I could be assisting a biodiversity non-profit to help save the planet. This variety keeps me constantly learning and adapting, ensuring that no two days are the same."

What lead you to SoCode?

"I grew up in a close-knit town, known for its strong community and beautiful landscapes, where my curiosity for technology and innovation blossomed. My career began in technical recruitment for the semiconductor industry, followed by a stint in the renewables sector, placing talent in sustainable energy roles. Drawn to SoCode for its leading role in tech recruitment, I joined to merge my passion for technology with my recruitment expertise. As a child, I loved my grandmother's homemade pasta, a tradition that instilled in me the value of connection and shared experiences."

What inspires you?

"I'm inspired by the transformative power of technology and the potential it holds to solve complex problems and improve lives. Seeing how innovation can drive progress across various industries motivates me every day. Additionally, the stories and journeys of the talented individuals I work with continuously inspire me to help them achieve their goals."

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

"As a kid, I wanted to be an engineer, fascinated by how things worked and the possibilities of building new technologies. I was always intrigued by gadgets and loved tinkering with electronics, which sparked my interest in the tech world. This early passion eventually led me to a career in tech recruitment, where I can combine my love for technology with helping people."

Where would we find you outside of work?

"Outside of work, you’ll likely find me exploring new hiking trails, indulging in my passion for photography, or experimenting with cooking new recipes. I enjoy spending time in nature and capturing its beauty through my camera lens. Weekends are also a time for catching up with friends and family over a good meal."

What is an interesting fact about you?

"I once backpacked across Europe, visiting over ten countries and immersing myself in different cultures. I'm an avid collector of vintage vinyl records and have a passion for classic rock music. Additionally, I once participated in a cheese rolling festival."
