Aimee Vincent Bunn

​Aimee started her journey at SoCode in July 2020 (The year we will never forget - thanks to Coronavirus).

"I recruit Software Test and QA Engineers at SoCode. I absolutely love recruitment in general; it's so varied due to the different clients, candidates and roles I work. The best part is matching candidates to their dream or ideal opportunities and of course helping my clients to build out their software test teams.

I love the people and culture at SoCode. We all genuinely get on and laugh together daily as well as enjoy doing things outside of work together, whether that's going out for drinks and a dance somewhere or having a games night at Colts.

When I started at SoCode, I would say I was an average recruiter and sometimes lacked confidence in myself and my abilities. Regularly, I felt like I had imposter syndrome and doubted myself a lot; in both working and personal life. Throughout my SoCode journey I have seen my confidence increase massively and I can now confidently say that I am a great recruiter and have learned so much about recruitment as well as myself in general."

What advice would you give someone looking to get into recruitment?

"My advice would be just to do it and believe in yourself. As long as you can listen; be willing to learn and don't allow a bad day to get the better of you, then you'll thrive in a career like this. I struggled with direction when I first started at SoCode, I often felt like I knew best, however the moment I allowed myself to be coached and taught alternative ways, I became successful!"

What did you want to be when you grew up?

"When I was a child, I really wanted to be a vet. I grew up on a farm, so loving and taking care of animals came naturally. I remember finding a young injured deer when I was out in the woods and carried it all the way home, I nursed it and bottle fed it back to health."

​How do you like to spend your time outside of work?

"On the weekends you'll likely find me out on a walk somewhere, either in the woods or at the beach. I love being outside (so much so that I think I may have been a dog in a past life). I am a regular gym-goer but that's because I am often out for dinner so I need to balance the copious amounts of food I consume!"

Fun Fact about Aimee:

"I can drive a tractor... I used to be able to drive a combine and harvest the fields when I was younger to earn some pocket money during the school summer holidays."
